(Video) the 1995 Ballymote Cailin Ban Competition

 

This is the 1995 Cailín Bán competition I filmed on VHS cassette tape in the Loftus Hall in Ballymote, County Sligo Ireland.

Cailín Bán in English means “White Girl”, (white meaning pure, honest or innocent)

Sorry for the poor quality sound (echo) but the acoustics in the hall was very echoey – and also sorry for the poor quality picture in places, the VHS tape is very old now and its not in the best condition when I came to digitizing it for uploading on here.

I hope you find it enjoyable and it brings back lovely memories – if you are from Ballymote you may even recognise some people… or maybe even yourself in the video!!
