Stage version of The War of The Worlds in Dublin 7/June/2009
On 7th June 2009 we headed from Sligo on the train to Dublin to watch the War of the Worlds musical 30th Anniversary stage show, it was on in the Dublin O2 Arena.
We stayed at the Clarion Hotel, and we were down in reception when we spotted Jeff Wayne and he agreed to have this photo with us (me Lucy and Jono – Val took the photo) I was having a nice chat with Jeff and it turns out he has been living near St. Albans in the UK, where I used to work, for 25 years even though he was originally born in new York U.S. – it was great having a chat with him, so down to earth and didn’t mind chatting at all after the photo was taken.
The live stage show on the evening was absolutely brilliant, sound and lighting was fabulous and it was really entertaining the cast included:
Justin Hayward, Chris Thompson, Jennifer Ellison and Alexis James as well as the voice of Richard Burton who was projected onto the screen on stage , and the set was fantastic too with a massive Martian towering over the orchestra.
I have loved this album ever since it was released in 1978 and have owned it on vinyl and CD but it was a real treat to watch it live in person on the stage.
